Kampung Naga, the virgin Sunda village

About three hundred stair-steps have to be passed to reach the Kampung Naga, a village located at the valley of Cikuray Mountain which is still devoted to its ancestors culture.

Through the first hundred stair-steps we could only see the wave of ebony and albasia trees, continued with the sawah view through the second hundred stair-steps. Finally, through the last hundred stair-steps, we could see the line of white cottages with black palm-fiber roof, surrounded by the green hills and Ciwulan River. That is Kampung Naga.

No one, ever, has the idea why this kampong named as “Kampung Naga” with its population of 311 people. Even if they have been connected to the modern life and could be considered as an educated society, they still devoted to their ancestors culture. The most important thing to them is to respect their ancestors (or usually called “KARUHAN”). The Great Central Kalimantan

Central Kalimantan, one of the biggest provinces in Indonesia has a great number of forest, swamps and agriculture land. As located in the equator line, the Central Kalimantan has various flora especially the tropical plants such as ebony and iron wood tree which support the forests.

Because of the number of rivers, the people usually use a motor boat as water transportation. Another attractive site is Orangutan Camp Leakey in Tanjung Putting National Park which also available the endemic proboscis monkey, clouded leopard, tiny tarsier and hundreds of birds species. South Sulawesi, is wellknown with the etcnic group named Toraja. They have the traditional house called Tongkonan, the graveyard site on the rocky cliffs, and beautiful wood carvings. Toraja coffees is the famous beverage in Tana Toraja. Those coffee are made of the post harvest process, the wet hull method and becoming one of the best coffee in Indonesia. The unique funeral ritual of Tana Toraja is Rambu Solo. They do not buried the dead body until they have enough money to make the Rambu Solo. The Virginity of Baduy

Banten is one of the provinces in Indonesia which has unique culture and language. One of the popular ethnic groups in Banten is Baduy. This group lives in a village called Cicakal Buleud which located in small town named Ciboleger. To reach the Cicakal Buleud, we have to cross the river.

The Baduy lives naturally. Their houses are made of bamboos without any electricity. Baduy is divided by two groups, inner and outer Baduy. Both have the different rules where the outer Baduy still allows the camera and video but the inner doesn’t.
