Kampong Baduy, daily living and the way of its life

Urang Kanekes is a unique group of society that closed from outside influences, especially for their culture. Although they called themselves as an Urang Kanekes, Urang Cibeo or Urang Cekertawana, the outsider society call them as Urang Baduy.

In fact, they’re not an isolated tribe which is modern life and contact separated. They are just a group of society that set apart from outsider. Urang Kanekes, intentionally isolate their life from outside influences. It is forbidden to be moral praxis for them. For example, it’s prohibited for them to use detergent for laundry at the river or damaging the forest that is their living earth. Kampung Naga, the virgin Sunda village

About three hundred stair-steps have to be passed to reach the Kampung Naga, a village located at the valley of Cikuray Mountain which is still devoted to its ancestors culture.

Through the first hundred stair-steps we could only see the wave of ebony and albasia trees, continued with the sawah view through the second hundred stair-steps. Finally, through the last hundred stair-steps, we could see the line of white cottages with black palm-fiber roof, surrounded by the green hills and Ciwulan River. That is Kampung Naga.

No one, ever, has the idea why this kampong named as “Kampung Naga” with its population of 311 people. Even if they have been connected to the modern life and could be considered as an educated society, they still devoted to their ancestors culture. The most important thing to them is to respect their ancestors (or usually called “KARUHAN”). The Unique of East Kalimantan

The province located in the southern end of Kalimantan Island is South Kalimantan. This province is separated into three zones, the dense tropical forests, the rivers – the longest is Barito River – and the coastal areas. Many villages lie along the Barito River with the activities supporting their capital investments. The origin citizens are Dayak who lives along the upstream rivers and Banjar who lives along the coast and becoming the majority. The beautiful nature panorama is provided by the Loksado sited in Meratus mountains and Barabai located in Hulu Sungai Tengah regency. People can go for traveling and tracking there. Berastagi is one of the cities in North Sumatra, which famous as a tourist town. This is placed in Karo Highland which full of plantations and vast kind of vegetables and fruits, the most well known is Marquisa fruit. From this town, people can enjoy the panorama of Sinabung Mountain and Sibayak Mountain. If they want to climb the mountain, it can be done here.  People can see the peak of Sibayak Mountain with a sulfuric crater lake. Another palce is Lau Debuk-debuk which provide hot water springs.  The green nature scenery is supported by the forest and the agricultural field. |feedvillages.com|

East Kalimantan, which the capital town named Samarinda, located near the Mahakam River. The  tourists can visit the great rivers, such as Mahakam River, Karangmumus River and Karangasem River, a huge tropical forest and the interesting object cultural Dayak ethnic. Maluku, or Mollucas, is a province in Indonesia consisting of thousand islands, near the Papua.  Maluku sited in the transition between Australian and Asiatic zone, so that it has a great variety of flora, such as meranti trees and orchids, and fauna, such as goats, bird of paradise, and cuscuses. The three big islands is Seram, Halmahera and Buru Island. The famous object is  Pintu Kota, a big coral located between seri and Airlaow Village which looks like a gate. The tourists can see the beautiful coral here. Others are Felawatu Beach, Santai Beach, and Batu Capeo. People can find the fresh air without no pollution such in a big city. |feedvillages.com|

North Sumatra, a province in Indonesia, is famous with the Toba Lake, the largest lake in South East Asia. It is surrounded by mountains with the Samosir island in the middle of the lake. The tourists can stay in a peninsula of Tuk Tuk on Samosir. The Samosir provides the traditional villages where most of the Batak ethnic live here. The panorama of Toba Lake is so beautiful that makes the visitors want to come here again. it has developed to be the highland resorts for the tourists while retaining the attraction of the unique of Toba Lake. Baliem Valley

The Baliem Valley was once dubbed Shangri La and it is easy to see why. The Valley is incredibly lush and fertile and is surrounded on all sides by towering peaks of 2,500 to 3,000 metres. The fertility is such that the valley has been farmed for 9,000 years but it was only discovered by westerners in 1938! Papua, the east place in Indonesia, has a nice virgin and natural area, such as forest, valley and mountain. The great valley, called Baliem Valley, offers great beautiful scenery. Sumbawa, a Beautiful Island

Sumbawa, one of the largest islands in West Nusa Tenggara, located to the east of Lombok. The effects of Buddhist and Hindu culture, still have a great role in the tradition. It has the well known great waves and white sand on the beach, good for swimming and bathing.

The famous horse is kuda Sumbawa, a livestock lived here and becoming the source of the capital investment for the citizen. The government gives a serious concern on the conservation of the natural resources, agrarian landscape and regional agriculture.
