Location of several sellers of food / beverage and souvenirs seemed lined up and a group of youths have been welcomed by the music of pop music trend, hoping to throw pennies in empty cans in the middle of the road. Not hard to find the source of the hot water shower pitu, because it is located to the right side of the driveway. Pitu own shower was in the form of hot water flow emanating from the cracks of rocks with an altitude of + / – 1 meter. The flowing water seems hot steam and debris in its path changed to brownish red.

Navigate the direction where hot water is flowing, I found a sight that I had never seen any place before. A pale brown cliffs interspersed with green looking smoke. All parts of the cliffs are the hot water flowed slowly flowing goto the bottom of the cliff, so that it looked like a rock to steam. Color combinations, interesting and very beautiful to be enjoyed, something that proves that natural colors are always harmonious, and “bad” eye.

A ladder on the right side of this rock, enable visitors to come down, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the lower side of the cliff. Apparently not all of the flowing water in these rocks are heated, as evidenced from the water that flows near the stairs is the water with the colder temperatures. As a result they reached the bottom of a mix of both makes the water temperature is colder than the top.

Soothing Sunday Sounds In Central Jakarta Park

June 1st, 2010

It was a beautiful afternoon in Jakarta, the sun was shining, the air was clear — well, for Jakarta. In short, it was a perfect day for a stroll in the park, and I happened to remember that a friend had told me about a park that hosts a musical performance every Sunday.

Taman Suropati in Menteng is located strategically beside the US Embassy and in front of the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas). The park is one of the few open spaces left in Jakarta. Planted mostly with mahogany trees, it has three birdhouses that are home to pigeons, statues representing the member countries of Asean, and two fountains. On a hot day, a shady spot under one of the mahogany trees is especially tempting.

My ears caught the sounds of violins, cellos, guitars, saxophones, percussion instruments and children’s voices, performing the national anthem and other patriotic songs. Directly in front of the US Embassy, some 50 people sat on plastic chairs with their musical instruments, playing as a conductor led them. Listeners gathered around them, applauding the performance. » Read more: Soothing Sunday Sounds In Central Jakarta Park

About three hundred stair-steps have to be passed to reach the Kampung Naga, a village located at the valley of Cikuray Mountain which is still devoted to its ancestors culture.

Through the first hundred stair-steps we could only see the wave of ebony and albasia trees, continued with the sawah view through the second hundred stair-steps. Finally, through the last hundred stair-steps, we could see the line of white cottages with black palm-fiber roof, surrounded by the green hills and Ciwulan River. That is Kampung Naga.

No one, ever, has the idea why this kampong named as “Kampung Naga” with its population of 311 people. Even if they have been connected to the modern life and could be considered as an educated society, they still devoted to their ancestors culture. The most important thing to them is to respect their ancestors (or usually called “KARUHAN”). For them, anything that not come from the KARUHAN’s taught is forbidden and will caused the calamities for them. » Read more: Kampung Naga, the virgin Sunda village
