When you live in the richest country in the world, it's hard to imagine millions of children without adequate food.
However, each day in the developing world, 16,000 children die from hunger or preventable diseases. Malnutrition is associated with over half of those deaths. This is equal to one child dying every 5.4 seconds.
As a world citizen, I have made a pledge to "be the change" and am asking that everyone in our global community join me in feeding village children. I have pledged to raise at least $100,000 by asking 200,000 people to donate at least .50 cents to feed a child. $100,000 will feed 200,000 children! It's amazing how just a small amount can add up to so much! Do you have 50 cents to spare?
Feed Villages has partnered with non-profit organization Village Volunteers and will be working in impoverished Kenyan rural villages with their successful non-profit local community based organizations. The first project will be set up in Kminini, Kenya run by Joshua Machinga, a local hero, who has trained over 37,000 villagers in bio-intensive organic farming methods and micro-credit, and is the director of the Common Ground Program and Pathfinder Academy. As part of the feeding program, Joshua will buy local produce from his women's farming cooperatives and the food will be prepared by a local women's group for orphans and other vulnerable children.
We hope that by feeding children, they will be able to have a chance to move ahead with education and "be the change" in their own communities.
You have an opportunity to have an impact on so many lives.
Do you have 50 cents to spare?
