Why You Should Make Canada Your Next Vacation Destination!

August 19th, 2009

Canada vacations can provide some of the most enjoyable breaks from work. Especially if you’re in a warm country, the colder climate can make a nice change for once; you might not want to live there, but as a vacation destination Canada can really deliver. The way the world is with so many countries at war, the socially indifferent and politically free Canadians can be a very welcoming community. And Canada has so much to offer, what with all its history, places to visit, cultural activities and sport activities such as White water rafting. Then there’s its spectacular countryside offering all kinds of activities for all.

So where could you visit during your vacation in Canada?

There are so many great places in Canada to visit, that you’d have to make a number of trips just to see the most interesting parts. Canada is the second biggest country in the entire world after all, from Alberta to Quebec to Ontario to British Columbia, there is plenty to see. Then add to that Manitoba, Vancouver Island, and Newfoundland (not actually a part of Canada, but very close by). Probable the first places on your list to visit should be the best known internationally tourist attractions; the incredible Niagara Falls, the equally grand Jasper National Park and the spectacular Banff National Park.

Ok, so what activities will you be able to participate in while in Canada?

Obviously hiking in such a grand environment would be spectacular, but if you’re one of those people who need a little more action you definitely won’t be disappointed. Some of the best locations for white water rafting can be found here and then there are other water sports such as kayaking and boating to consider. One of the best places to participate in these activities would be the longest river in Canada, the Mackenzie, which begins in the Northwest Territories and eventually ends at the Hudson Bay.

If water sport isn’t for you, you could always visit some of the wilder regions where fishing and hunting activities bring in an abundance of pro and non pro sportsmen. And you could also go and see a hockey game at one of the most well known Canadian hockey Stadiums. Then there’s the French Canadian cuisine, you just have to try some of the specialties like the gallettes, the maple syrup and galumpkies.

If all this doesn’t interest you, why not consider actually getting away from all the tourist attractions and sporting activities and take a closer look at the Canadian culture. Meet the people, participate in their cultural activities, take a look into their history (interestingly free from international trouble). This is something few tourist actually do, but it is the only way to really get to know a country and its culture.

Whether it’s just the pure beauty of the Canadian wilderness that interests you or it’s the pure adrenalin you seek from speeding down a river in a raft or the challenge of climbing Canada’s highest mountain situated in the Canadian Rockies, Mount Robson, in British Columbia, Canada has something to offer all of us. The only question is will you let the opportunity pass you by?

Many people like to take in a Broadway show of some kind just to have the experience. If you have already visited New York City in the past and have already seen a lot of the most popular places, then a second trip might allow you to check out some other things that will be just as interesting. Sometimes the lesser known attractions will be more entertaining than the most well known places. Many of these places will have to be driven to a could take a few hours.

Tips To Having A Great Night Out In New York City

August 19th, 2009

One of the most exciting cities in the entire country to enjoy nightlife is in the great city of New York. This does not necessarily mean just your average night out on the town visiting a nice bar or lounge. Of course, you can visit places like that too, but there is so much more to it than that.

There is nowhere else in the country where you can attend operas, classical concerts, intellectual lectures, Broadway plays, and almost anything else you can possibly imagine. If you have the time and the money you can partake in a smorgasbord of activities. Even if you are visiting on vacation and have a limited budget, you can still find plenty to do at night.

Now if nightclubs are places you like to hang out and have some fun, they do not get any better than those in New York. There are plenty of clubs where you can hear live bands and there are some clubs that have some of the greatest disc jockeys anywhere. There are specialty clubs for those that are still under twenty one. New York always has some of the most popular bands in the world that will probably be playing somewhere in the city. Visiting clubs in New York that feature new up and coming bands is a great way to see the mega bands of the future.

Comedy clubs are a great way to spend an evening out too. You can see everything from the most popular comedians to the unknown ones that will likely be famous one ay soon. Nothing much beats a good time laughing the night away especially when you are on vacation.

It could be that you enjoy some more simple entertainment like bowling. There are quite a few alleys that stay open until the wee hours of the morning. The same can be said for pool halls as well. This kind of entertainment might be more easily affordable and just as enjoyable as some of the more expensive things to do.

Dining out in New York City is available around the clock. Some of the more upscale places might close down before you can get in, but there are always great places to eat open somewhere in the city.

One other way to find enjoyable things that can be done at night in the city is by asking some of the local residents. This is a great way to find about some interesting and fun things to do that may not be listed on some of the internet sites and travel brochures. No one usually knows better than the city residents about where to go to have a great time be it at a bar or somewhere else.

Great Places To Stay In New York City

August 19th, 2009

Everyone knows that if you visit New York City that you will never have a difficult time finding a wonderfully extravagant hotel. Reservations are always required and you must be prepared for the extravagant price it will cost you to stay at the best hotels as well. If you can afford to stay at the upscale locations that is great, but not all of us who like to travel have to be a little less extravagant if we want to be able to afford the trip at all.

It is not shocking that visiting a city as grand as New York can cost you an arm and a leg. This does not have to be the case if you plan your trip well in advance and search the internet diligently for the most affordable accommodations. After all, you are going to this great city to see the sites, not necessarily the inside of the place you will be sleeping.
The more money you save on your hotel or motel, the more money you will have to spend doing more interesting things.

A frugal traveler will probably already know these things, but if you are new to visiting places like New York City, then planning your trip well will keep you from running short of cash and perhaps preventing you from doing all that you would like to while you are there. A lot of times people think that staying right near Times Square will be the best idea, but it will not be the cheapest. You might wish to try the East or West Village, or the lower East side. Staying in these areas may also give you a more inside view of life in the big city instead of just a visitor view.

You can always stay at some of the nationwide chain motels that always offer affordable rates, but you can also look for individually owned small hotels or boarding houses. These can be just as affordable as a chain motel and may give you a more homelike atmosphere to stay in. Bed and breakfast type establishments are very popular, especially for couples. Staying in a place like a B&B will be much more romantic than some cookie cutter motel room with the plain white towels and hard mattresses.

Any vacation that turns out well is usually the result of careful budgeting and planning. Start looking for the best accommodations that you can afford at least two months in advance to make sure you end up staying at the best place you can for your money.

If you are taking kids along with you, the beach is a great place to start and end a day.

After the beach, you will want to visit the Miami Metro Zoo. It is fast becoming one of the best in the country. The Florida climate allows them to display a wide variety of animals from all over the globe. They are grouped and exhibited by the regions that they come from.

The Miami Seaquarium is also a wonderful place for families to visit. It is an outdoor park that is also possible because of the climate. You will want to budget in enough time to spend a half a day or more enjoying the marine life that is housed there. Other neat places to visit that have wild life are Parrot Jungle Island and Monkey Jungle. The kids will love the antics of the monkeys in action.

Miami also has two great museums. The Miami Museum of Science is home to the Weintraub Observatory and The Bird of Prey research center. They have some good exhibits for kids. If the kids do not get to see enough interesting things there, then take them in to the Miami Children’s Museum. It is a fun place for interactive learning.

If you are not afraid of heights, you might like to try taking a balloon ride 500 hundred feet above Miami to get the most spectacular view available.
